There Wasn’t Central Heat In The Cabin Rental

My family decided to start a modern tradition this year.

As soon as my associate and I were done opening presents on Christmas afternoon, my associate and I all got in the vehicle and headed into the mountains for a cozy getaway.

We wanted to spend time skiing, snowboarding, eating fantastic food, and care about each other’s company in a warm cabin. We booked the cabin at the last minute, so my associate and I didn’t have several possibilities to choose from. When my mother in law booked the rental, she overlooked one major detail. There was no central heat! On any other weekend, I’m sure it would’ve been fine, because the weather is officially mild in this area. However, it snowed over two inches on the evening my associate and I arrived at the cabin! It took us over 2 hours to get there due to the cold snow, so my associate and I were all ready to enter a cabin that was warm and cozy. When my associate and I finally arrived, my associate and I all spread out, looking for the thermostat so my associate and I could get the furnace turned on. We quickly realized that there wasn’t any central heat and instead, there were portable heaters in each room and a immense fire in the main living space. This was disappointing, because it took a little time for the portable heaters to warm up each room. This also meant that there was no heat between the rooms and through the hallways. We bundled up in layers and cozied up in front of the fire in order to stay warm that weekend. If my associate and I do this again next year, we’re going to have to book a cabin earlier so my associate and I get central heat!
