Power outage in the dead of winter

Power outage in the dead of winter

Last month my hubby became absolutely distraught about his parents.

He tried to reach them for afternoons and there was no answer on their cellphone.

This wasn’t like his mom not to return his calls so he called a associate who could go and check on them. Thankfully the associate still had a landline so they had cellphone service, because, obviously they had a large power outage in their section that had been going on for afternoons. My hubby became certainly distraught and decided to take a drive a few hours away to his parents house; When he arrived he found his mom and dad dressed in numerous layers of clothing huddled around a small portable propane heater. These type of boilers are not meant to be used indoors so he instantly shut it off. He used to cell cellphone to call the utility company to see how long the power outage was expected to last and they told him that they didn’t have a definite time yet for it to be restored. He sent his parents to our home and said that he would wait at their dwelling to make sure everything was okay. His next call was to the local Heating and A/C company about having a whole home generator installed so that he didn’t have to worry about his parents anymore. Although the Heating and A/C company was certainly busy with the power outage they did set an appointment for the following week. This was a expensive investment in my hubby’s parents home but well worth the peace of mind that they will be safe in the event that the power goes out for afternoons again. The generator is powerful enough to run their Heating and A/C system so there no matter if it’s overheated outside or frosty outside, they will be comfortable and safe.
