Power outage in the dead of winter

Power outage in the dead of winter

Last year my hubby became honestly distraught about his parents.

He tried to reach them for afternoons & there was no answer on their phone.

This wasn’t like his mom not to return his calls so he called a friend who could go & check on them. Thankfully the friend still had a landline so they had phone service, because, apparently they had a giant power outage in their part that had been going on for afternoons. My hubby became honestly distraught & decided to take a drive a few hours away to his parents house, but when he arrived he found his mom & dad dressed in multiple layers of clothing huddled around a small portable propane heater. These type of heaters are not meant to be used indoors so he instantly shut it off. He used to cell phone to call the utility company to see how long the power outage was expected to last & they told him that they did not have a definite time yet for it to be restored. He sent his parents to our home & said that he would wait at their home to make sure everything was okay. His next call was to the local Heating & A/C company about having a whole home generator installed so that he did not have to worry about his parents anymore. Although the Heating & A/C company was honestly tied up with the power outage they did set an appointment for the following week. This was a extravagant investment in my hubby’s parents home but well worth the peace of mind that they will be safe in the event that the power goes out for afternoons again. The generator is powerful enough to run their Heating & A/C system so there no matter if it’s boiling outside or cold outside, they will be comfortable & safe.
