Only particular people are cut out to work 3rd Shift.
You have to have a nocturnal personality to be able to handle the hours.
Normally they beginning around 11 & end at 7 in the morning, so when most people are beginning their afternoon, you were at the end of yours. I have worked this shift for years & honestly enjoy it; However, there are a few drawbacks. The company that I work for tries to save currency on heating & cooling by changing the temperature during slower times of the afternoon. The concern with this is that we never know how to dress for work. My buddy and I never know exactly when they are going to adjust the temperature control & change the temperature. I may beginning my shift feeling boiling & comfortable & then by the end be cold cold, however during the summer time when the temperatures are high at night, we may beginning our shift with nice air conditioning & end it with boiling muggy air. I understand why they do this although I assume it would be more beneficial to just maintain the same temperature all afternoon long. Bringing the plant back up to their desired afternoontime temperature makes the Heating & A/C system work harder. I have mentioned this to management but they don’t seem anxious about over laboring the system. I like my job & the pay is nice so I honestly have no choice but to stay. I just know that if I owned the dealer, things would be done differently & my employees would have the same comfort level for each shift.
