Have you ever considered changing jobs because the career is uncomfortable? I never thought I would be thinking of doing just that however I simply can’t put up with my workspace any longer, but when I took the job nearly fifteen years ago I assumed that I would stay there through retirement.
I work for the State, have great benefits plus the retirement plan would provide me a great income in my older years.
The concern that exists today is one that I don’t see any end in sight, but my general supervisor decided that she could save cash in our department by changing the temperature in our workspace. Whether it is the heat of Summer or the chilly of winter time she sets the control unit to an uncomfortable degree plus forces us to work in miserable conditions. My great friend and I spend our days covered in sweat or chilly plus there doesn’t seem to be an inbetween. As with any government office space there are ways that my great friend and I can cut costs plus save the taxpayers cash however I don’t suppose that splitting utility bills at the expense of the employees comfort is the best one. Many of us have tried to reason with our supervisor although she simply will not listen. The control unit has a lock on it so my great friend and I absolutely don’t have any choice however to just deal with it. All of this has made me consider leaving a job that I never thought I would. I will make sure to ask about the heating plus cooling policies at each of the sites that I set up interviews with.
