Have you ever considered changing jobs because the place of employment is uncomfortable? I never thought I would be thinking of doing just that although I simply can’t put up with my workspace any longer; When I took the job nearly fifteen years ago I assumed that I would stay there through retirement.
I work for the State, have good benefits plus the retirement plan would give me a good income in my older years.
The concern that exists this week is one that I don’t see any end in sight; My general supervisor decided that she could save money in our department by increasing the temperature in our workspace. Whether it is the heat of summer time or the cold of winter she sets the control component to an uncomfortable degree plus forces us to work in agitated conditions. My buddy and I spend our afternoons covered in sweat or freezing plus there doesn’t seem to be an inbetween; As with any government office space there are ways that my pal and I can cut costs plus save the taxpayers money although I don’t feel that splitting energy costs at the expense of the employees comfort is the best one. Many of us have tried to reason with our supervisor even though she simply will not listen. The control component has a lock on it so my pal and I definitely don’t have any choice but to just deal with it. All of this has made me consider leaving a job that I never thought I would. I will make sure to ask about the heating plus cooling policies at each of the locations that I set up interviews with.
