My wife and I learned the hard way a few summers ago that you have to pay attention to your heater in the summer and not in the winter months when you’re going to need it. A few years ago in the middle of a terrible winter storm we lost power and we also lost the ability to heat her home. We always thought that we would be fine if you lost heat for a few days but in the middle of a snowstorm that’s just not the case. It was impossible to get an HVAC company out to the house because the streets were snowed in and everyone on our block had lost power as well. So we decided that from now on we were going to call a local HVAC company to come out to our house in the middle of the summer to look at our Heating system this way we can ensure that if we had any issues with the heating system they will be fixed in the summer and not during the middle of a snowstorm. If we survive that snowstorm without a heating system in our home and we didn’t have any space heaters either. My wife and I have worked really hard since then to make sure that we don’t ever encounter something like this again, especially now that we have small children. We can’t take the chance and you don’t want to risk their lives on top of it.
