No heat on Christmas morning

It was Christmas Eve and my heating system swiftly stopped working. My heating system works off of a boiler system. I read online that you can refill those yourself. You just open up the special area and add more water, then unluckyly, my boiler system doesn’t have a spot like that. It appears to need a specialized tool in order to refill it. I called up a boiler repair company but, of course, they couldn’t come out for almost a week. I tried calling weird boiler companies and was told the same thing by every single one of them. Thankfully I had a few space furnaces in the garage, however one of them is a forced air space heating system and the other one works by convection. Between the two space furnaces my house was livable from Christmas into the current year. It wasn’t exactly comfortable though. Without the boiler working I had to bundle up to stay warm. Even with the space furnaces on, I could never get overheated enough. However, the space furnaces did keep me from freezing to death. They also kept my pipes from freezing. So that’s good. Two afternoons into the current year the boiler repair company came out and refilled my boiler finally. So now I am toasty overheated again. I’m grateful for that. I feel next year I will be preemptive in my boiler maintenance though and have the boiler repair company come out and top off my boiler way back in November or November at the latest. Then I won’t be stuck with no heat on Christmas morning.
