No heat on Christmas afternoon

It was Christmas Eve and my heating system hastily stopped working.

My heating system works off of a boiler system.

I learn online that you can refill those yourself. You just open up the special area and add more water… Unluckyly, my boiler system doesn’t have a spot like that. It appears to need a specialized tool in order to refill it. I called up a boiler service corporation but, of course, they couldn’t come out for almost a week. I tried calling different boiler companies and was told the same thing by every single one of them. Thankfully I had a few space furnaces in the garage, and one of them is a forced air space heating system and the other one works by convection. Between the two space furnaces my home was livable from Christmas into the new year. It wasn’t exactly comfortable though, however without the boiler working I had to bundle up to stay warm. Even with the space furnaces on, I could never get warm enough. However, the space furnaces did keep me from chilly to death. They also kept my pipes from chilly. So that’s good. Two afternoons into the new year the boiler service corporation came out and refilled my boiler finally. So now I am toasty warm again. I’m grateful for that. I feel next year I will be preemptive in my boiler service though and have the boiler service corporation come out and top off my boiler way back in October or September at the latest. Then I won’t be stuck with no heat on Christmas afternoon.
