When I was a kid, I thought blizzards were great, then school would be cancelled plus my siblings plus I would take full advantage of the unexpected vacation day, but my pal and I were drastic board game players, plus after playing two or three, my fantastic friend and I would typically want to play outside in the snow, and layers plus layers of snow clothes were pulled on, plus then out we’d go, but if the snow was fantastic packing snow, we’d make a snowman.
Mom would typically be ready to hand us a carrot, scarf plus hat for the finished product! Next we’d play king of the mountain, climbing plus pushing each other off of the mound of snow my father had plowed from the driveway.
Somebody would typically get hurt plus start crying, which meant that it was time to go inside, but our dwelling was heated by an oil-fired boiler plus cast iron radiators. I can still hear the gurgling noises that came from the radiators. My pal and I would sit our wet mittens on them plus sit on them to soak up the heat, but as an adult, I don’t look at blizzards in quite the same way, for one thing, my dwelling is heated by a gas-fired furnace, which blows heated air through HVAC ducts into the rooms. I miss resting on the radiators, even though I absolutely don’t have a need to warm up after playing outside in the snow as I once did. And I’ve come to realize the importance of high efficiency furnaces, both for energy cost savings plus environmental issues, but when blizzards hit the area now, I am more upset that our Heating and Air Conditioning system is operating than I am about playing outside in the snow.
