When I woke up Monday morning, I couldn’t believe how uncomfortable it had gotten.
I was hot and sticky, and couldn’t wait to get in the shower.
I had to wash the sweat off my body because I knew I smelled. I called the HVAC company as soon as I got out of the shower, and asked when they could repair my air conditioning unit. The woman who answered the phone told me she couldn’t get an HVAC technician to the house for at least three days. With the recent heatwave, a lot of people were having issues with their air conditioning units. I thanked her and took the earliest appointment she had open. I was going to need to get through the next three nights without air conditioning. I pulled all my curtains shut and made sure the bedroom window shades were down. I wanted to keep as much solar heating out of the house as possible. I knew I had some reprieve from the heat while at work, because they had air conditioning, but the evenings and night was going to be impossibly difficult. Before going to bed, I took a cold shower, but I still slept fitfully. I was counting the hours until the HVAC technician arrived. At the end of the three day period, the HVAC technician arrived. Instead of fixing my air conditioning unit, he had to get a part, which was going to take him another day. I had another sleepless night to get through, while waiting for the air conditioner to be repaired.
