Dealing with a client who cannot pay for her Heating & A/C service repairs

It is never straight-forward to deal with a client who is unwilling to pay for services well done. Unfortunately, the world is full of individuals who tend to take fortune of Heating & A/C suppliers & other professionals. In all my life as an Heating & A/C serviceman, I did not have to encounter such a lady until recently. Surprisingly she was a commercial client whose chain of eating establishments my friend and I had service for a whole week. The units in the eating establishments had been neglected & required a lot of cleaning & repairs to restore the air conditioning to its original status. Sadly, even after helping him get back the component & spare him the expense of buying current Heating & A/C systems for the unusual premises, she wanted to be stubborn about paying us. Her excuse was that my friend and I had not signed any agreement on the amounts, so she would pay what she deemed fit. Being a mature & experienced Heating & A/C supplier with over three decades of experience, I did not have the energy to argue with him. Instead, I asked him to channel the payment through the supplier & get feedback directly from the owners. That was a route she was unwilling to follow since she knew it might attract legal penalties. Finally, after a few minutes of push & shove, she agreed to pay the amount owed. She even apologized for her stubbornness after her workers reported improved airflow & comfort levels as reported by their clients. It turns out fake Heating & A/C servicemen had duped him that she only wanted to pay for confirmation.
